Future of server

Were currently in the post event lull so numbers are down across server. i havent managed to log much myself in last few days because of being busy but worryingly quite a few people i know have decided to leave server for one reason or other.

It would be helpful for gm to release some sort of outline for plans he has for the server. I feel were at a point where the server has become very unbalanced and therefore quite stale. We also need a new rdd/bdp quite badly.

Wars are non existent. Only the mega rich have fully orbed kit and it takes way to long to collect ores normally now.

Be sad to see server die out as its one of the longest running private servers, but if people start leaving it becomes abit of a vicious cycle and before you know it, everyone has moved on and its a dead server.

We also need new wiz pets, some range pets be nice to have some variety. And new arcamons be nice.

Maybe another evo stone added and can be used to upgrade any arcamon in game to a tougher version etc...

Be interesting to see how server recovers in next few months.

I’d like to see some more stuff for the casuals. Some week I can only play 3hrs a week. So at 180+ levelling becomes difficult but I love the game.

Arcamon, agree. Would like to see more of them useful. Maybe more with useful skills, and other options and strengths. But not locked behind challenges like yim that’s unachievable for me.

What I think I’d like to see, though no idea how to implement it. Some kind of ‘battle pass’ or ‘season pass’ where you can buy a pass (quest line?) which you can complete for rewards (DS, Gold, GS items?, EXP?, Runes etc Maybe even season items that are bound based on level - not sure). Giving something different to do.

Would be good to see some Easter egg type stuff that needs solved maybe. Stuff that isn’t just about sinking all the time in to the event but also gives the casual player more to aim for.

Oh and new spells be nice, surely some work can be done around these to release newer higher level spells.

Off top of my head i can think of ideas...

Tao - poison cloud which acts like holyfreeze but is instead poison (red and green). Dark damage orientated.

Wiz - call of ice dragon which is like call of pheonix but is instead ice based. Has chance to slow and also blue freeze targets. Ice damage orientated.

War - rage of the gods 10 second buff which boosts pdr/mdr by 50% and also increases ITD by 10%. Cooldown is around 30 seconds and is primarily to be used for bossing/pvp scenarios.

this would boost the economy as books would have value for a good while as everyone will need them.

They won’t help me but I get it’s a good idea. For warrior I think something like a rage where say AC is converted to DC or a % of for a frenzied attack. Could be used tactically.

I’d just like to build out the story and rewards to keep the causal element. This is the best private server. Bar none. Would like to see it get the attention it deserved with higher player base maybe.

I hope he considers the season pass type idea. They could end with the big event so only a few a year.

From my perspective, the two main reasons people stop playing are the toxicity around pvp, and boredom.

To look briefly at the pvp element, it mostly revolves around castles and top bosses. These things are pay to win, no matter what way you look at it, it's just the truth. When people lose, they get upset, that's only natural. Ego trumps decency and good people lose out, again, that's just how life is in the game and elsewhere. GM has made some good progress around that by putting a fair amount of content into demon souls areas that are safe, and making events more co-op friendly, castles maybe need revisited though.

The way it is now for castles worked for a long time, but there's no way for anyone to compete realistically any more. Keep some PVP of course, but maybe the idea that spawned PW going to arena winner could be extended a bit to some other castles too, with some more PVE related leaderboards.

Such PVE goals may have the side-benefit of alleviating some of the boredom element too. We need more variety of things to keep us interested, goals that actually do something, not just arbitrary task lists.

For me, the only thing to aim for is pure exp, I'm falling behind in levels because I just don't have the attention span or time that I used to for hundreds of hours of grinding. That's on me, absolutely. When I was at the top of leaderboard I deserved to be there because I put the work in, now I'm not and that's fine. I'm exactly where I deserve to be for the work I'm actively putting in, which is low.

But there's really nothing else for me to do though. One of the fun things for me to do is building new kit, but it feels like just throwing time and money at it for the sake of having better kit than other players to stand in town and show off. There's really no other benefit to having better kit. For example my wiz kit is mostly 4+ years old now. Back then it was ridiculously OP and I was tanking entire enemy guilds in it. Nowadays it would barely be competitive in pvp, I'm sure I wouldn't stand a chance, that's fair, the server has moved onwards and upwards and I haven't. But even with that old kit I can still comfortably hunt pve without any real risk, pve really is that easy. Same thing happened with other classes, with tao I got into a bit of an SC arms race a while back. I stopped competing in that too when I realised it was pointless, I could comfortably kill any pve things I encounter with half the power I have, so what's the point in improving the kit I have any further. Warrior too, my 190 warrior I just started building some new kit for then stopped, I realised the 180 kit that I have is easily able to handle level 195+ mobs in lures, so again, why bother making newer stuff.

New skills, spells, kit etc. are all short term fixes. Everyone gets excited for a few months then we are back where we are today. It feels like it needs a more fundamental adjustment to game progression.

Got to be honest, I log in a couple times a week now mostly to banter with the guild and other friends, maybe do one of the daily quests or a short guild hunt, that's about it. I'd love to be more engaged and back to the commitment and excitement I used to have, but the lack of goals is draining my enthusiasm.

I should add, I've fully mapped out the entire Eldric's Library Maze, every room, every door, every boss. That was a lot of fun for me, I do enjoy maze mapping!! The difficult part is how to display it. I put a lot of work into the interactive ST maze map, but the way Eldric is structured it's not really a 2d thing, so I'm undecided how to actually draw it, it just exists as a spreadsheet at the moment. But watch this space, it's coming once I figure that out! More mazes please GM :p
