Unless you're strong enough (and have good MAC and agility) you'll usually be wanting to kill ranged mobs first, so you can then focus on the lure.
For ranged mobs, if you are high enough for them (which you definitely are in planes) entrap them and kill them first. Entrap pulls the mob towards you and also paralyses it for a couple seconds, long enough to kill it with a quick blazing sword flaming sword combo. Note that you need to be lined up perfectly straight to pull a mob in like that, it's hard at first but with practice you'll get the hang of it, it's fine once you've had a good bit of practice!
If you aren't high enough then it's harder but still possible. Use battlecharge to cut through the mobs straight to the ranged one and make sure you land that BS/FS combo before it starts walking off again. Sometimes you'll need to lion roar or diamond skin in these situations, some people may see that as 'embarrassing' but don't be, it's just sensible tactics to recognise when it's needed and use your skills appropriately.
If there's multiple ranged mobs then just use your judgement, sometimes you need to move slowly, sometimes you need to use clear ring or para ring. Even with lower level stuff it's sometimes worthwhile to lion roar then run back a bit out of range of some of the ranged mobs so you can then entrap one or two at a time.
You can even use entrap on multiple mobs to para them while you kill other ones, or entrap and run back and repeat to pull a mob completely out of a lure. These tactics are a bit more advanced but are very effective once you get used to it. Just practice a lot and don't be embarrassed to RT/TT if you really need to, but try not to. The moments when you are almost dying but manage to keep yourself alive are the moments that teach you a lot about the game.
FrostFrenzy is also your friend, unless you have very high ice damage don't try to kill stuff with it, but treat it like a mass para. If you're dying and you're about to run away out a lure, switch to frost frenzy and swing 2 or 3 times before you scarper, it'll stop the lure from chasing you as effectively and give you more time to recover before jumping back in.
One last comment, playing defensively as a warrior is a key to success. Get agility and hp regen, and use bloodbinder. Don't be shy on spamming hp pots even if you aren't that low on hp, keep the gain flowing.
Best of luck
