So, I used a lvl 161 Artifact Ring design with a lvl 166 5* Essence on a fresh cele ring. Item goes red, I'm excited, use a 1m scroll for it to turn White. Combined total of 350gg's wasted, my perogative to buy des/ess of course, I understand that. What I don't get is, why is it an item which is successfully upgraded with the combination of mats, does it then fail on identification? Surely it should give me some sort of a star outturn? Can anyone explain it? People may say I've "overcooked" it with the mats, I've used much higher combinations and had great outturns.

Interesting, I’ve seen it happen a lot to quiet few people specially with celes items. IMO @andy owes you 350gg

Happens so much it’s unreal. I’ve had this happen alotttttt of time I have to a of videos and screenshots. Andy never replies. It’s andys sink hole. Thing is it makes me not want to play.
Logically the item should never go red in the first place if its then going to go white on IF.
Might as well save the heartache and just go white straight away....

At least you actually got stats ha! I could understand if I didn't get the stats I wanted, that's just the luck of the draw. For it to go white after the mats were successful is what's frustrating, this is why I said to you I never buy design /essences haha but I just got too impatient this time

It's always happened, weird and I've wasted gg in the past too. I always just thought it was "overcooked" as you said in the original post

I’ve used 20+ artifact 160+ essences and designs on celestial kit. Countless 6/7 star ess and designs. They go white prob 50% of the time. It’s a massive sink hole. Massive kick in the teeth every time. Makes me not wana play.

I'm thinking there is something built into the algorithm to make celestial kit harder to craft, hence why we're all getting terrible results.
Just another thing that's designed to tighten the gap between the top and the rest. I can kinda understand to a point, if it was easier then there would be a handful of hardcore players with basically maxed out perfect kit and they would get bored and not play at all, making it really difficult to the point of being almost impossible reduces that effect and gives "normal" people a bit of a chance to not be completely left behind

If the upgrades worked more I wouldn’t get bored. I’d buy more and make alternative kits. Fire red/ice res/holy res I’d build a kit for every scenario. At the moment 95% of the materials I get go to waste. I got easily 100 or more 165 items from that Xmas event. Wasted 95% of all the materials on failed upgrades
There's nothing specific for any items you try to upgrade, only the essence, designs, scrolls you use.
Because of the current level of items in game and the level of Celestial gear, it is particularly difficult to get a successful upgrade on the upgrade window (gold box).
Getting an unidentified item doesn't always guarantee that you will get added stats when you identify it. There's roughly a 12% chance it may have no added stats.
I am sure it is very disheartening. I will look into the whole system and see if there's any way to make it more satisfying without letting things get out of control.

Would be awesome if they worked abit more. The chances of getting all 3 stats you want is so slim anyway.

Perhaps you could make a sticky thread explaining the upgrade system? With some simple faq.
Can the upgrade be “over cooked” for instance using two artifact materials for an upgrade. What’s the minimum lvl above the item u want to aim for? If you use two artifact materials is it better to use a +15 ident scroll Or a +8 ident scroll? Does dieing or pking actually affect the chances of upgrades being good or bad? Does magic find or finding potions affect the crafting or identification of upgrades? Just a few lol

Ah ok, upgrading just seems to feel different from last year. Maybe I'm just not putting as much effort into it as before.
