socket extraction tools

Its not going to happen. Its been asked to many times previously and Scorp is pretty adamant about it. Hopefully they will be in drop files at next event.
 
it would help the community alot if they were added as there are some new kits coming through but also would help those who have upgraded items before crafting them to now level 204 it would also allow lots of stored items to be put up for sale helping the markets
 
It's only really been an event feature . Wasn't in the last few events who knows if they will return

There was a couple of events where they dropped from special mobs

Adding an item back into the game is obviously not difficult. It's keeping the economy balance that's the difficult part

Socket prices have fluctuated very wildly multiple times following what might have been seen at the time as relatively minor changes, and it always causes complaints

If everyone got everything they wanted, there would be no economy at all

Everyone has their opinions and that's fine. My opinion is that extraction tools benefit rich endgame players and are bad for new players, so generally it's not a good idea. I've made posts about this in the past going into a lot more detail and justifying my view

I'd be happy to debate it if you have fair counterpoints. If you can do an analysis of the economy and show across the board that it would be beneficial overall, and how it would affect each type of player, then I'd be delighted to dig into your analysis and discuss it further

If, however, it's a case of "I want this, so GM should do it" then I don't see that holding any water
 
if you actually log in you will see the economy is on the floor and is a great lack of items in game at the moment
 
and as for benefit end game players are you mad? if end game players release items they can extract sockets from it will benefit noobs lvling up as will be kits to aim for on the market and the end game players as you call them can add sockets to new items coming through, also if they are for gg the gm will benefit too from sales , everyone wins i don't get where you come from? are you on the doll? i run a business mate , it's good business sense!
 
As far as I can remember, the rune socket extraction was initially added because of the whole "Hidden Drop" saga when everybody invested heavily into that gear, and then it was subsequently removed as it absolutely killed off the game and became a competition of whoever had the most gg to buy rev scrolls won the guild v guild battles at wars & boss fights.

Other than that is has only ever appeared in random events with an expiry timer and limitations (min item level of 180)

Yeah I was going to put that, lol. It was because people runed all their hidden drop and scorp took hidden out of game and compensated by being able to rip runes out. I hope it appears again during an event, its a good seller for noobs from lower level GG caves.

In fact I think it was only ever added again when the DC15 / PA 1.5% runes were added, then people could use the tools to pull out their stuff and added the (E) runes
 
The biggest problem this game has right now is that relatively new players level up very fast then can't kill anything because there's no decent kit for them on the market

It used to be a great trickle-down economy. Top players spend a lot on top kit, then when new top kit comes out they do the same and their old kit gets sold on to someone a bit lower, and it goes on and on like that. My the 4th or 5th owner an item that had 5k gg spent on it a few years ago is now being picked up by a new player for 200

When socket removal tools came out, that chain was broken. All the 2nd and 3rd tier kits were stripped for their sockets and salvaged

So now all the not-quite-top players have nothing to buy and are stuck in this cycle of having to either spend a fortune making their own kit or rely on others to help them kill stuff

The tools were a fix that worked 'too well' and hurt the economy massively, and that was a fix for another 'fix' (hidden drops) that had worked too well and massively hurt pvp. Then another fix was put in to fix this fix, which was to make sockets really easy to get, everyone loved it for about 5 minutes until we all realised they then had zero value and the people who had a bit of time to spend very quickly got maxed out kits that would have cost 5 figures in recent times

All this to say, a quick fix is never a quick fix, there are always side effects, and they are often worse than the thing you're trying to fix

Blindly bringing back one of the fixes that caused more problems than it solved last time it was brought in seems extremely short sighted
 
I wish this tool could come back. But that would also mean that people who already have these runes would no longer need new runes. That’s something the GM doesn’t want to see, because then everyone would lose the motivation to hunt different kinds of runes.





I think there’s only one possible outcome now: the tool will be permanently removed. For new equipment sockets, players would have to collect runes all over again from scratch.

I urgently need that tool right now to extract a Corrupt Gem XL in order to complete my armor upgrade quest.





I don’t want to waste my valuable time doing pointless grinding just because the GM tweaks drop-rate parameters with a few clicks.

If you aren't enjoying the game why are you playing it? I reckon it would take me about 20 hours to make a corrupt XL. If that's too much of a 'pointless grind' for you, then this doesn't seem like a genre of game that suits your needs

Because I have an emotional attachment to this game. I started playing it back in 2001, when it first launched in China. Later on, I became very frustrated with all the GM’s decisions and stopped playing for a long time before coming back only intermittently.





If there were other servers that didn’t constantly shut down, I would have switched to them long ago. I’m only here because I’m nostalgic for the old days. Most of the time I don’t really play, which is also why I’ve only reached level 196 from 2016 until now.
