I've searched around between 60-80 caves for small pet food, i can get some dropped but at such a low rate its silly. spend like 10-15 mins just hunting for 5 bits and majority of the time its the ones i don't need.

Could this be looked into and perhaps drop files adjusted accordingly?
 
Forget all that.. make a good use of the event cave while you can.. by the time its over, you wont be much worried about small pet food
 
i am leveling in event? it takes seconds to gather most food baring Small food. either way im going to have to level a pet eventually regardless.
 
You can use the food you're gathering during the event on the lower level pets and save the hassle collecting the small foods. You can get the small foods in hidden lands, you probably won't be able to tele in from the portal but you can walk there from Life death coffin, tele in from Monghon province and follow the path round to the right you'll see the door.
 
Hiddenlands supplies food up to lvl 60 which is XS.

If i use the food in event cave id lose out on getting the most out of stats for my pet thats the issue.

You're right on hidden lands, my mistake. Medium and small have the same stats, medium foods drop in insect cave so that may be your best option?

You really don’t though. Do the maths! If xs gives 8 6 6 6 4 and xl gives 4 3 3 3 2 you will end up with the same results...

Yes it will take longer but u wont be wasting time in noob caves
