Bug Report Resting EXP Allocation Issue on Secondary Characters

I would like to formally report an issue I have encountered regarding resting EXP allocation. I am currently playing with a level 141 Tao character, and based on my observations, the resting EXP system does not appear to function correctly for secondary characters, even when the main character has an active subscription.

To provide specific details:

  • After 11 hours of play, I only received approximately 2 million EXP.
  • Staying in the tavern for 5 hours resulted in only 500k EXP gained.
  • The only benefit applied to the secondary character seems to be the full inventory, while resting EXP is not allocated as expected.
This situation is misleading, as the information provided suggests that resting EXP should apply across characters. Based on my testing, I am 100% certain that the current implementation does not work as intended.

I kindly request clarification on whether this is a bug or an intentional design choice. If it is indeed a bug, I hope it can be addressed promptly to ensure fairness and consistency for all players.

Press P and click on the notifications tab. Does it show that you are getting resting exp every minute? Exactly how much do you get every minute? If it stopped, when did it stop? A screenshot of that screen would be useful.

What is the total resting exp you have now when it stops going up?
What is the total exp required for your level?

It appears that the experience gain is not stopping, however, the amount is significantly lower compared to my total experience. At present, I am receiving approximately 3,900+ experience points per minute. When multiplied by 60 minutes, this results in only around 200,000 to 300,000 experience points per hour. Considering that my total experience is 8.8 million, the rate of accumulation seems disproportionately low.

It's exactly correct, sorry for the bad news.

Here's how the calculation works

The system looks at the total exp required for your current level plus the next two levels, which is 28,524,400

It then divides it up in such a way that you will gain exactly that much resting exp "normally" over a period of 10 days

10 days is 10x24x60 minutes = 14,400 minutes

28,524,400 / 14,400 = 1981 (rounded up)

That's your basic value of resting exp per minute

When in tavern, it is doubled, which gives you 1981x2 = 3962
When logged out, it is halfed, and calculated when you log back in, so if you log out for an hour you'll get (1981/2)x60 = 59430. It may vary a tiny bit due to rounding, but that will more or less be on the nose

When you're higher level, the amount of exp required goes up, and the calculation will automatically adjust for that by always diving the current level plus next two by that magic number of 14,400 (minutes in 10 days), that's why you see it going up faster on higher level character

One change that's happened since this system was introduced is that the resting exp doesn't cap at that value any more. It used to cap at the total of current plus next two levels, which could be achieved in 20 days offline, or 10 days afk in safe zone, or 5 days in tavern. But now the cap is a flat 4.25 billion for everyone

As a side note, subscriptions never belong to a particular character, subscriptions and all associated perks are assigned to the entire account equally

I hope that helps :)

No worries... It might seem harsh, but the concept of resting exp is exactly as the name suggests, take a rest from levelling. Some people like to just focus only on exp, level level level and do nothing else, but there's actually a lot of other things to do in the game. Crafting, trading, quests, exploring, collecting stuff, or just being sociable. Don't have to be levelling all the time. When your resting exp runs out that's a sign to try some other things the game offers until it builds back up again!
