I've had better luck since the update with gems, had a dura, accuracy and pure storm all go orb with three consecutive goes, was very pleased.

Upgrading has always been difficult and a fine balance between the essence and design. Only thing I've noticed lately is everything i salvage comes out as Exactitude, don't know if the GM has removed the other possible designs or if it's just a coincidence.
