Hi im looking for a guide for new players, i just recently created a taoist but even on quick hunt im getting killed so easily by most mobs, how do i get strong and fight these mobs, i really wanna start playing, but the game seems so hard and frustrating when you haven't the faintest idea on what to do. Btw im like level 86.

Farmer quests in bichon wall are a great start. Some require money/items. I can give you a few mil to get started if you need.

At level 86 look for kit in shops around Bichon wall. Being able to hunt effectively in areas is really determined by your kit more than you level, so finding kit that is appropriate for your level is key.

If you're wearing level 50 items you'll only be able to kill level 60 stuff at best, no matter what level you are. So you constantly need to be upgrading and swapping your stuff out for higher things

The Guidebook by TTFN is really good for new players, it has lists of items up to about level 100 so you know what you're looking for, and has walkthroughs for all the farmer quests, which give some very good experience

Press Q ingame for a list of quests available to you, click on one and it will tell you where to find the npc. The key one for you is the Farmer, he has 96 quests for you (although the announcement says 'over 100', that's always bugged me haha)

Once you've outgrown the tips and lists on the guidebook, there's information on kit from level 100 and up or my site

Also worth having a look in auction house if there's something specific you're needing or wanting. It's the blue button near the bottom right of your screen with a white house icon on it. It works whenever you're in any town.

My inbox is always open if you have more specific questions, though I usually encourage people to post publicly if you're comfortable with it, as it helps others who may have the same question but didn't want to post :)

I’ve also got some basic Tao kit probably that might help initially - what’s your in game name? I think I’ve got some books lying around too I can send your way.

Great reply thank you :)

Also if anyone has a guild they could invite me into, that would be appreciated i require a few quests which involve 2 other players, so being in a guild would be nice :) if anyone is willing to accept a new starter would be sweeet. cheers

Would be happy to invite you into our guild, we're not the most active, but very relaxed and all friendly folks. I won't be ingame until tomorrow evening though

Was gonna say, you vanished the other night when was just about to recall you, hope all was well 😎

New Player Guide:

Do not donate to level faster, it gets so much easier upon level cap increase so you are wasting your money, time & effort.

Do not buy kit until level 180 (Elysian)

Yo, thanks for the reply, so this means i should stick with level 100 items even if im level 150 for example, until im level 180?

Just grind it out, maybe invest in some shop items etc for your level or really cheap AH, do not invest in adding sockets or runes until 180

There's different scales of what people mean when they say "don't buy kit"

You want stuff that's suited to your level, absolutely, but upgraded kit can make you more powerful but costs a lot. There's lots of different things you can do to improve items you have. What he's saying is that the 'overpowered' upgraded stuff isn't necessary until 180

While strictly not necessary, it can be helpful in some situations if done right. I also disagree with the notion of just focusing on levels which most people seem to do. It depends a lot on your playing style and what you want out of the game. For me, there's so much content that you miss out on then you rush.

Learning about different kits and how you can use different stats to manipulate what your character is good at is a lot easier to learn about at lower level when things are cheaper. At high level it gets much more expensive to experiment, so it's useful to understand it all before you get to that point.

Do not donate to level faster
Thats budget dependant. It does help you level faster, but not as much as people would expect, it's a small gain for a high cost but I'd prefer to educate people on the specifics with numbers so they can understand and make the decision themselves if it's worthwhile

Learn to love halls of agony until 144 then naga gp until 170ish then bug cave until 192ish.

Pro tip, you do NOT have to leave GP caves that cost demon souls on entry. You can log off and back in without paying the initial souls cost. Just find a safe spot to log off and in.

I did levels 154 to 172 in 3 days on my wiz in naga gp without leaving the cave once.

Also while in naga GP, hit the crocks. It's rare but they can drop gold bars that give 10 mil gold. Don't bother picking up the gold bullion things they just clog your bag.

Don't bother using sc/mc/dc crystals or runes until you have Ely kit. Don't waste time on cele kit unless it's stupid cheap cause Ely gear is cheaper in most cases now. Especially armour.

Pick up every lichen you see and dump in the AH for 150k. People buy them all day long.

Don't waste gg on books, farm them on double super double champ days. Yes bosses drop them but supers and champs do more often.

And the best tip I can give you, get a leveling buddy. Until 195 you will level drastically faster with someone else as long as they aren't slowing you down. Depending on your class find someone who plays a different class than you. If you're a wiz find a warrior with luring cry. It's the best skill in the game for leveling.
