New Pet Food Analysis

With the recent changes and additions to pet foods, I thought I'd do a bit of maths and figure out exactly what's worthwhile and what isn't.

Obviously there are a million different ways to feed pets, so I've picked a single scenario that fits all the food types and you can compare/extrapolate from there.

The scenario is levelling a pet from level 0, with all 0 stats, levelling it up to 180 (better comparison, since all foods can get to that)

I have all the detailed numbers and specifics if anyone is curious, I'd be happy to discuss in excruciating detail, but I'll keep all that out of this thread for the sake of readability/simplicity

Here's the effective breakdown

The cost column is based on shop costs, and average market prices for those that are sold by players, normalised on average prices and exchange rates.
Efficiency is a measure of how well a food concentrates its stat gains, higher efficiency will generally produce a pet that is more powerful at the top end
Availability is max for the ones you can simply buy in the shop, and an estimate of how easy they are to collect/buy for the other ones

ZerkSoup(Mix) represents using the smallest food possible (XS until level 60, S until level 90 etc.)

Analysis

As you see, in terms of cost, using zerk soup is by far the cheapest way to go, even if buying them from traders or players, it still blows every other option out of the water on cost, but efficiency does appear to be out the window a bit compared to the more expensive options. That's not to say this is a bad path, it's still perfectly viable and you won't have a "bad" pet, it will be noticeably weaker than pets created more efficiently. Note that feeding it a mixture of different foods (soups, broths, dumplings etc.), a common path for new players making their first pet, is absolutely fine, but efficiency does go down again as you have not specialised the pet. Using the mix method (XS > S > M > L > XL) you will end up with a slightly better pet than if you only use XL from the start, and you'll use less foods overall, making it quicker to level, the only downside is the smaller foods can be tricky to find and you'll probably need to burn some time in lower level caves collecting them.

MindFood(S), the foods created at the npc in Elysium and commonly sold by players, a common money-making technique, really hit the sweet spot nicely. They aren't quite number 1, but certainly are competitive against pure gg foods in efficiency, and at a drastically lower cost, but I have noted their lower availability as they can take some time to produce.

Of the gg food options, L is the clear winner. If money is no object and you want the absolute best pet, that's the one to go for. I'm unclear on the purpose of XL, it's more expensive and less efficient than L. Even when you take into consideration that you need less of them and thus less steroids, it's still more expensive than L, bit strange but there you go. M foods seem to me to be the "I'm in a rush, but don't have unlimited gg" option. It's close enough in efficiency to S you won't notice much difference, you can buy them all instantly, but they are a significant chunk cheaper than L, representing a saving in the region of 1000gg

Super foods - the second most efficient food available, after the L gg foods, they are a solid option if you want to go super efficient without spending gg, and have loyalty points going spare. Beware the cost is pretty high, the amount of loyalty points required to feed a pet from 0 to 180 could alternatively be spent on 3 teleport rings which could be sold for gg, putting this on a par for cost with the most expensive gg foods.

I will just post my 2 cents. I have a yimogi that was built with pure defence gg food. He dies almost instantly to mobs. The defence food made zero difference to its defences vs mobs.

I made a troll with attack gg food and it also dies almost instantly in mobs.

I come to the conclusion that gg food is really not worth it. A full top tier gg pet will cost u in excess of £600. I promise you will regret it.

Way to kill a vibe

I'm satisfied with all my gg pets

You're just determined to ensure everyone stops playing because you don't personally enjoy it any more, so you try to push others to feel the same. Please make your own thread if you want to share those kinds of thoughts, rather than hijacking posts that are meant to be helpful

Thanks

Please update your avatar to show a massive rain cloud 😂

I forgot to mention the dtz I made with pure gg mind food. That dies before it even hits a mob. It really is pathetic lol.

Weird that mine works perfectly fine

Almost as if you could be telling an alternative version of the truth 🤣

Your play style doesn't involve any defensiveness, or care. You charge in face first and wonder why it doesn't always work

Have some humility and take advice and guidance from people who successfully do the things you can't, and you might find more success ahead of you

Please enlighten me on the things people have done that I can’t. With proof of course. I test these things extensively. My pets was all lvl 202 when yours was 200. Tell ya what. Il make videos of all my pets when im back from holiday vs mobs of their equivalent levels and show u exactly how they work and die.

In my time on darkstyle and dommino I’ve made
5 yimogis- one pure defence, one pure intel, two pure hp and one with random food. Only the hp one was any good
2 dragons- one with random food one with pure mind food. Pointless when people use a fire guard.
2 tigers one random one with pure mind food. The mind food tiger parad for 14 seconds so gm nerfed it so regardless of how much mind food you feed it it will only ever para for 3 seconds.
1 troll
1 wolf
2 dragon khazard, not a bad pet if built with acc/agil
1 Dtz with gg mind food lvl 83 intel. Gets instant killed by mobs
1 light bear random food does light burn pretty good.

None of them warrant the £600 it costs to make them

I made a Khaz with acc/agil food but the normal stuff that drops, it was proper decent.

I wish I could be arsed to make another one.

Keep a pet alive for more than 3 seconds?

I test these things extensively.
That makes me even more confused, how everyone else seems to be able to keep pets alive and use them effectively without any testing at all

My pets was all lvl 202 when yours was 200.
Not sure the relevance of this?

Tell ya what. Il make videos of all my pets when im back from holiday vs mobs of their equivalent levels and show u exactly how they work and die.
I look forward to it. When you show your pets dying instantly, I'll reply showing you how to use them properly

My play style is a full defence kit u absolute spacktard
You're getting confused between kit build and play style. You build defensive kit, assume you'll be invincible, and run head first into certain death.
PLAY STYLE.

u absolute spacktard
I know you love me really, no need for names please. If you want a debate, I'll debate, but keep it clean. If you're just here to throw insults there's plenty people I can refer you to

None of them warrant the £600 it costs to make them
Can you walk me through where the £600 goes please?
£600 = 9300gg
Feeding a pet from 0 to 200 using all gg foods straight from game shop
20gg foods (best efficiency, top overall stats in the end, as shown above)
Foods required: 225
Assuming zero patience, using steroids to feed the pet instantly, steroids required (5gg each) 225/8 = 28 (rounded down because pet starts with max hunger)
So that's (225x20)+(28x5) = 4500+140
Total cost 4640gg
Where is the other 4660gg going from your 9300?

Pick an argument, I'm here with maths, you're here with anger. Calm down first, then we can discuss it properly.

Pointless feeding a tiger mind food. Mind food does zero to improve a tiger. Mins food would affect the pets spell time. Then gm made it so a tiger will only para for 3 seconds regardless of the intel.

So your way better of feeding a tiger anything other than mind food.

If you want to maximise ur pets stats I use the 30 gg food which each give 85%

One gg food is 30gg.

237.5 gg foods required to make a lvl 200 pet

237.5 x 30 =7,125gg

Sorry £500

And again, I love this game. Every aspect of it should be available to whoever works for it. Don’t move the goalposts when people get close.

The goalposts have been regularly moved since day 1

If you play with the expectation that they'll never be moved again, you're being disingenuous. This should not be surprising to you in any way

Play with the assumption that they'll be moved again soon and regularly and learn to just go with the flow, and you'll be a lot less stressed about it

On p69 I’ve spent about £600 on my yimoogi feeding it nothing but the best gg food pure intelligence build and yeah the damage is good but it dies very quickly to 2 or 3 normal mobs so it’s kinda pointless to fully gg feed in PvE unfortunately, there’s much more rewarding investments you can make if you spend that money on GG shop items tbh

ive tested it against a max yimoogi that wasnt gg fed and theres barely any difference in pve because they both die too fast for the dps to even matter

The game is really good, I love it tho and arcamons are still good they’re not pointless or anything that’s not what I’m trying to say :)

It would be very good if we could be more positive around here and suggest that the GM buffs them by a decent hp and ac amc buff so they can actually survive a bit longer. I feel like arcamons in general have terrible defensive capabilities like they could be level 190 (even if fully gg fed) and still die super quick to 2 normal mobs around its level which kinda sucks but who knows honestly this could all be intentional so we don’t be lazy and rely too much on them or something XD

Does anyone else actually spend £600 on an orange worm ? I mean most people do it gradually over time if you want to do it in a day or 2 then yes I guess you'll pay for it .

£600 on an archamon is just scandalous lol

DarkStyle not being able to keep a pet alive on a character that has 4 other pets and a healing spell is a quality thought by the way

Arcamon are not desgined to defend you from a lure whilst you AFK somewhere in a cave. They are more like a hunting aid with different qualities, with 10 - 20 lives that can be respawned instantly.

No, nobody does this 😂
