Isle of dead sz mob spawns

Possibly not a bug and this isn't a complaint but in the last couple of days mobs are either spawning in sz near the storage npc on IoD or wandering in past the guards who can't seem to kill them or just ignore them. Is this by design as it's annoying if you go afk for a few minutes and then lose a levelled pet if you die. It only seems to have started happening recently.

A quick bump - a Thatcher Reaper just wandered into sz, totally ignored by the guards and started whacking a Tao's pets. Is this how it should be?
 
I had my noob parked at PO came back with Grey screen and Droped few items. Chat screen showed I was poisoned....something has gone wrong with guards?
 
There's been nothing changed with island spawns since the launch of IoD. It was always a bit of a risky town due to the whole premise of the island. Unless there is a genuine bug like missing Guards or you say the Guards are not even doing anything?

I've seen mobs spawn in sz, mobs walk in from various directions out of town into the sz & start hitting pets/players unchallenged by the guards, and guards unable to kill a single mob. Vexus has also commented about PO sz too so not sure if this is by design or a bug.

Yeh same thing happened to my store char parked in PO , someone lured the mobs all the way from Iku's Lair down to the safe zone and the gaurds didnt kill it so it killed my store and i lost some minor ess/des

You'll never stop the determined lurer but for the odd 1,2 or even 6 mobs wandering in or spawning in a SZ the guards (looking at their stats) should be able to deal with them.
 
Just now a local reaper wandered in and the Guard that was near the store guy ran off to kill it and then went awol. Is this by design that the Guard gets an extended tea break for killing a mob? :)

Don't worry, just a visual glitch! He's still there, just moves at lightning speed and for some reason the client's visual display doesn't update until he moves again.

We're looking into the bizarre issue with the guards not dealing damage.
