I thought you don't drop when you d/c

I was hunting solo in blue dragon palace and my internet completely cut off suddenly. Was about 10 mins it took me to get back online and found I have dropped something irreplaceable (was one of the old unlimited time amulets that you can't buy any more). I always thought if you disconnect you don't die it just puts you to town with 0 hp and no drop. Is that not the case any more?

From my understanding if your net fails or server fails they are both regarded as d/c their for you shouldn’t have died. Now based on what happened to you the only concept of d/c has changed. I need be more care now >.<

This is how I understood it to work too. Not too dis similar to logging during a fight. DC happens and if your “in a fight” your char is stood there taking hits untill the countdown finishes and then you are logged out

If you disconnect they the player basically waits there until the connection times out. There's no way to send a disconnect message.
If the wait time was shorter then you are more likely to disconnect from a small lag spike.

I suspect what you are referring to are certain server errors that are more able to protect the player

Gotcha. I understand the need for that balance. Sounds like I fell just the wrong side of it, unlucky me :)
