It's obvious to me that certain players on this server just can't get along. The origins of the rights and wrongs of some players complaints have clearly been lost in the mists of time and arguments are put forward opaquely or made complex in order to deceive.

However, reasonable requests by reasonable players are being shouted down by certain players, drowned in a sea of nonsense. Worse still, a complaint about an individual player is met with a barrage of abuse aimed at as wide a range of players as is possible, not a reasoned rebuttal to the instigator of the complaint.

I stopped playing this server for 2 reasons; that progress and enjoyment of the game seem linked to one's disposable income and the above, that slander is tolerated and by allowing that slander to continue, encouraged.

I always tried to play fairly and within the rules. Personally, I cannot be arsed with all the petty bickering, but it goes beyond enjoyment when those that should really be told to wind their necks in are allowed free rein.

I still read the forum in a forlorn hope that the server I once loved comes to its senses. Unfortunately, I fear that my use of the word 'forlorn' is apt.

I get that as a GM you want and need 'passion' about your game. Having read certain players over many years now it's clear that they haven't developed, they have no empathy with their fellow players and what may be 'passion' to them is, for players like me, tedious to read and borderline offensive.

We can all agree to disagree, but is it not time that GM's enforce a bit of civility in this forum?

With you all the way 👌🏻

Ah yes, the noble martyr returns — not to play, mind you — just to mourn the server he “once loved” like a grieving poet, all while passively throwing shade at anyone who dares still enjoy the game differently.

Let’s break this down:

You “cannot be arsed with the bickering,” but took the time to craft a dramatic monologue drenched in passive-aggression and vague finger-pointing.

You “stopped playing” because of the toxicity… yet you’re here still reading the forum, apparently more invested than the players you’re calling out.

You want “reasoned rebuttals,” but lob sweeping accusations about deception, slander, and lack of empathy — all in the same breath.

You ask for “civility” while implying that anyone who disagrees with you is either a bully, a fool, or a brainless spender.

But no — you’re the reasonable one. The voice of forgotten honour. The final candle in a darkened realm.

Maybe instead of yearning for a version of the server that exists only in memory and self-righteous nostalgia, try this: either engage constructively, or actually walk away.

Because standing in the doorway sighing theatrically while blaming everyone else isn’t as noble as you think.

Actually, it didn't take that long.

I personally don't think that asking for civility on a public forum deserves your level of vitriol but you do you, I will carry on being me.

Oh don’t worry, you being you is exactly the problem here. Hiding behind a call for “civility” while completely missing the point — classic. If you think tone matters more than substance, maybe forums aren’t for you. But hey, you do you.

Well, if that doesn't take the biscuit. A post mostly 'passively aggressively' attacking a poster asking if we can't all be a bit more civil, then suggesting that a point has been missed.

Interesting that you went 'attack mode' of my post (and me) with barely a mention of how civility is, or is not, a welcome thing.

Of course tone matters. Comments such as 'the martyr returns' all designed to control and stifle debate.

My point that certain people seek to control the narrative by both their tone and the content of their posts seeming going straight over your head. Or not.

The problem here is only with people like you, full of bile and personal abuse.

lol the irony is almost poetic. You accuse others of “attack mode” while writing an entire post drenched in passive-aggressive whining and thinly veiled insults. You claim to care about civility, yet you throw around words like “bile” and “personal abuse” without a hint of self-awareness.

You’re so desperate to paint yourself as the victim of some grand conspiracy to “control the narrative,” yet you’re the one trying to dictate how people should speak, what tone they should use, and who gets to post what. It’s almost impressive how you manage to embody everything you claim to oppose.

If tone really mattered to you, you’d start with your own. But I guess self-reflection isn’t on the menu today.

Comments like that turn off more players than any bugs or anything else

People go on about the game being 'dead' because of lack of updates, bugs, imbalances etc. The fact is none of those things are an issue at all when compared with the absolute trash that gets plastered all over the forum. Get a grip.

Game didn’t die from bugs or balance it died because someone got called “martyr” and needed therapy after. 💀

If forum posts scare you more than bosses, maybe stick to Candy Crush.

Totally agree and certain player keep going to harass other players… wanted to look rich by buying cheap gg and ruin the game.. how many ppl quit the game because of them..

There you go again. Lots of words and hot air attacking me as an individual, zero attempt to debate the points I made.

I attempt to dictate nothing. Who posts what is not in my control. The control is in the hands of our moderators, to whom this post was addressed.

Please go and be angry somewhere else now, you are embarrassing yourself.

All of the above is why i have stopped playing lol, wont even log for events now.The server is too toxic to even enjoy playing.

Was such a lovley server to play in the good days.

Playing OSRunescape again because greif play is dealt with and punished.

Sadly we have lost too many good players from server. As time goes on its too hard to replace with new players as they face such a cliff to catch up to rest of us. So community is quite small at moment, there's no real competition anymore. No real wars. Feels like server is in abit of a death cycle or am i just being cynical?

Certain players dont realise how their behaviour then pushes others away further from playing. Further reducing the community. Economy suffers and your left with an empty server.

Bingo, and then they will have no choice to turn on eachother which tbh with the egos at play im suprised hasn’t already happened, but rest assured it most certainly will.

Just my 2 cents as a player who's been on and off here for a while, I don't see much toxicity in game but damn some of the forum stuff is pretty toxic and kind of funny, personally it doesn't really bother me, Mainly because I'm too low or don't do wars and such I'm assuming but I think it does create a bad look for the server not so much the in game stuff but the forum stuff for sure.

I've always wondered, being such a small server/community why there is so much hate between some guilds/players or even to new players in general, Very few people want to guide/help new players, show them where to go or what do to and finding info is tough unless you put in a bit of time on these forums digging though old posts. Why not make rules around war and gear drops I'm not really involved with wars or pvp at all i try to stay away from it because I don't want to lose my gear haha but if there was some kind of anything lost in wars will be return kind of thing id 100% be more interested in it, I know that's not in the spirit of it all but damn if I lost something worth 1000+ gg id be spewing lol and then going in "shop kit" doesn't make it as fun? idk like I say I don't partake so I could be miles off on my take, the onetime I did go to a war I was a lowbie and lost a holy crystal helm, I'm still sad about that haha :) and man some of the gear ive seen on some people, no way id risk that stuff haha

I've been back for about a month or so now and the changes to the server since I last played (was ages ago can't really remember) are great I should hit 180 soon but for new players there is so much pick up and like Oldwolf mentioned its rough trying to catch up I think making it a lot easier for new players to reach 170/180 and getting to the "end game" would benefit the server greatly not sure what it's like starting from 0 but I've done 160ish to 180 in this past month not going to super hard out.

But even at 180 I don't feel like I'm at the "end game" or even at the start of it :) i want to do the upgrades but then that's another whole thing in itself I feel like the upgrade system needs to be changed somehow all of the older upgrade crafting materials should have higher drop rates or decreased amounts needed. No one is ever going to put the time into upgrading armour/weaps of that older stuff you'll just end up out leveling the gear before you ever get to finish the upgrades unless you're doing it for just something to do.

I'd really love to do the upgrades but the time needed for the item gained just isn't worth the effort until you get to the higher "end game" stuff and even then I'm assuming the drop rates are probably terrible, the Nage Ore drops like candy where I haven't even found x1 corrupted gem chip, granted I haven't really started hunting there yet but I have done tons of orc city mobs and I've just made x1 Orc Spirit Stone last night by the time I had the materials needed for the upgrade I'll be lvl 190+ or even higher.

I know it's meant to be a grind but its damn near impossible for Joe average jamming a couple hrs a night, Would it be such a bad thing to have much higher drops rates on older crafting materials once a new "tier" comes out that way the top stuff isn't super easy to get and gives the top end guys something to do, while the lower guys can actually work towards something useable and rewarding,

lol damn turned into a bit of a rant haha and kind of went off topic a bit but of well :)

Much love from New Zealand, Chur 🤣

Great response Mr Halfstep, covers a lot of points. I'm tempted to respond to everything cos it's what I do 🫣 but it's late, so I'll summarise by saying I agree with about 95% of what you just said.

One little hint, the demon soul caves do have a slightly higher drop rate of upgrade items (somewhere around 1.5x to 2x I'd say) compared to the free caves. Also, extermination meter is the absolute key when hunting for upgrades, just focus on keeping that maxed and you'll get them faster!

Best of luck 😎
