City of the Damned

Returning for 2022, City of the Damned is a creepy valley of terror containing a number of indoor halls and dungeons. There are over 22 maps in total, with the main Barrens of Misery containing over 5000 shadow-less souls, and haunting horrors.

Look out for a Chucky in Bichon Wall who will teleport you to the event maps. Enjoy fast experience and a good opportunity to upgrade items with lots of item drops, orbs and runes.

Spooky spectres will ambush players and sap mana. You will find Mad Pumpkins dropping gems and candy, and Reapers dropping loot and runes. Try and take down a mighty Hell Raiser with a group of your most powerful Hero allies.

Event Instances

Entry requirements have been made stricter this year. Lower level players will not be allowed in higher level zones.

1. City of the Damned – Easy – (Level 0 – 100 only)
2. Barrens of Misery – Hard – (Level 0 – 120 only)
3. Nightmare Halls – Difficult – (Level 0 – 140 only)
4. City of the Damned – Nightmare – (Level 0 – 160 only)
5. City of the Damned – Insane – (Level 160 – 180 only)
6. City of the Damned – Legendary – (Level 180 and above)

The Forsaken Ruins

Enter an icky, sticky, smelly ruin under a gruesome swamp. Find the secret portal to the Shadow Swamp – a safezone with merchants and the entry portal the Forsaken Ruins. You may log out here but leaving the region will mean you must repay the Demon Soul entry fee. Hunting in the Forsaken Ruins will cost you regular amounts of Demon Souls!

The Forsaken Ruins is made up of five maps with event unique mobs. Get special treats, and find Ancient Shrines. Try solo a Green Witch, and take a team to defeat the stinking rotten Cacodemon. It is here you can craft creepily good elixirs or carve grotesque pumpkin headpieces to boost your stats.

Event Instances

1. Forsaken Ruins – Nightmare – (Level 0 – 160 only)
2. Forsaken Ruins – Insane – (Level 160 – 180 only)
3. Forsaken Ruins – Legendary – (Level 180 and above)

Solo Caves

Enjoy a private hunt in the Halloween solo caves. Here you will be able to have mini-hunts without the nuisance of pesky pkers or bothersome boss thieves!

Collect Spectral Shards inside the City of the Damned main event regions and trade them with Brian in Shadow Swamp for mini-hunts in Ghoul Garden.

*Times may vary internationally as UK Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday 30th October 2022 at 02:00. Clocks go back one hour and we change to Greenwich Mean Time. Type @time in game for server time.

The small print

All event items will expire after the event ends, this includes Arcamon, Elixirs, Candy and Pumpkin Heads. For more details see the item description for a disintegration time.

Some floors in the event dungeon do not allow player drops, random teleporting, teleport rings, log-out and recall.

Some areas are protected from player drops, others are not, please press ‘M’ to find out the current map settings

If you get too scared please put the lights on, turn the sound off and always remember a TownTeleport! (or press H for home)

Thanks for your efforts!

Brilliant event for people like me who enjoy solo hunting, but I've heard negative feedback from others who prefer to hunt in groups. There isn't really anywhere dense enough with mobs for a group to be warranted or beneficial.

Obviously groups are usually needed for pk around bosses like Hellraiser, but for those just wanting to grind some exp and get levelled up, it's really a week of solo play which isn't much fun for a lot of people.

Maybe if tele/rt was disabled in forsaken ruins and a few more floors added, with the deeper ones being more densely packed with mobs, it would be a worthwhile place for a group to plod around in.

Over all I think event is solid, couple of tweaks potentially:

Too late now but cave split should have been 190+Breather than 180. Too many people going after too few mobs. Adding an extra few thousand mobs to the top caves would help a lot.

Private caves are lacking for drops from gift and rune mobs. For the money you pay there should be a slightly better reward I feel. Maybe next time make them 50gg and a better chance at rares.

Blues and reds seem low compared to last year, most likely due to the lunar event coming so don’t want to make it silly spawn rates?

Yeah I must agree I think more floors to forsaken ruins would be fun with mobs higher lvl as you go on . And yeah private caves not what I thought they was going to be to be honest I have had just as much luck with drops n forsaken ruins as I have in priv caves maybe expection of one or two items but I do the event is pretty good made some good myth items and ess and des and gold so no real complaints from me tbh

Agree with Alsiral on the splitting the caves by levels of 10 maybe? or atleast the last maps to be 190 + and the rest 20 intervals for future similar events.

My tuppence...

Its an Ok event, neither bad nor good.

The drops are ok, the experience is ok.

I am lvling (with an exp pot) steadily and I have had loads of items drop, but nothing outstanding.

I suppose that as event is once yearly I was...ummm... expecting / hoping for more?

I do appreciate that some may say 'greedy' while others might agree.

Whatever the case, thank you Scorp.
