Thinking about some of the ideas that have been shared here, I really like them and think they could be very interesting and attractive.
However the main problem holding this up is GMs reluctance to make big changes to the arcamon system, because of the potential backlash. A lot of people have spent a lot of money on special arcamons and if there's a system change that causes an arcamon with £300 behind it to suddenly be a lot less useful than it was, then people come out the woodwork and start threatning legal action and all sorts. It happens every time a big change happens, so GM is understandably very careful and considered in any changes he makes, that's why it takes so long!
With that said, I think I may have a solution that satisfies both camps.
Arcamon skill sockets.
Add a socket to an arcamon similar to the way you add a mythic socket now, maybe it should cost a high amount of demon souls to open?
Then you can add a "skill" to the arcamon socket. You collect them like books, collect the pages and a casewrap etc., something similar to that, to make an arcamon skill which you can then put into the socket to give that arcamon an additional skill. Once added it is permanent, so plan carefully!
Arcamon would trigger their added skills randomly or on a timer or whatever, they could be things like
- lion roar
- mass healing
- confusion
- holy freeze
- bloodlust
- thunder strike
