What is Magic Find?

Everyone seems to have differing ideas of what it actually does, does anyone know for certain? Scorp?

I seem to think it means you have more chance of a skill book dropping from mobs, presumably Super, Champs and Bosses.

I am sure it means there is a higher chance of additional stats being on the items you find.

Magic find increases the chance of an item that drops being unidentified rather than "white"

I thought it was the chance of getting better stats when identifying an item.

I didn't mean to cause any confusion, MF won't affect crafting but it will affect item drops

That's great and reading that thread through it still isn't clear exactly what it effects for item drops.

Is it the chance of a drop being an un-id item
Is it the potential stats that the un-id item might have

Magic find is not mythic, that's a different thing mate

When an item drops, your magic find determines a value which is used to calculate the added stats. More Magic Find = higher value. Monsters, bosses, supers and champs affect that value too.

ID scrolls help reveal more stats and increase the value of those stats.

He's said before that they definitely don't. But experience says strange things happen when pets kill things that GM says don't happen
