Skull Island Discussion

Hey everyone,

Hope you're all doing great! Just wanted to start this thread to chat about the new Skull Island event. This thread is all about sharing feedback and thoughts, not for criticizing or being mean to anyone.

So, what do you think of the event so far? What do you love, and what do you think could be better?

Let's start with the positives:
Personally, I think the event is really fun! I love the progression from floor to floor and the surprise of encountering unexpected mobs in places they usually aren't, like finding Holy Palace mobs in the Bug Cave. That really caught me off guard! I also appreciate the abundance of bosses and how easy it is to get gear and books.

What Can Be Improved: @Scorpian
So far, I've been recording my gameplay from around 5 PM to 10 PM. I did a few main quests but then got sidetracked, focusing on leveling up as fast as possible. I was just speed TU-ing mobs and didn't bother with bosses to save time.

In about 4 hours and 20-30 minutes, I went from level 0 to 105 (this was with subscription and 70% 2nd char perk). Maybe the EXP rates need some tweaking? I'm honestly not sure what I did wrong! Should I have followed the questline instead? What I did was jump from floor to floor, spamming Turn Undead on mobs, and once I reached a certain level, I'd move to a higher floor.

Honestly, if I've been leveling correctly, the EXP rates definitely need to be increased. It takes less than an hour to reach level 100 in Bichon Town, so it shouldn't take four times that in Skull Island.

What do you all think? Any tips or similar experiences?

Tips for new players:

1. Skip picking up gear at first: When you log in, don't bother collecting gear to sell to the shop NPC. Instead, focus on gathering Rabbit Arcamons and making EXP. They sell for a nice 7,500 gold each, and it's easy to fill up a bag with them.
Once you start exploring higher caves, switch to picking up plants and flowers to sell instead.

2. Sell level 50+ books: Sell any books above level 60+ that you don't need. You can make around 60-70k gold per book, which is pretty decent.

3. Get a Cave Maggot ASAP: Obtain and level up a Cave Maggot as soon as possible. It will be incredibly helpful in the lower caves and potentially later on too. You'll definitely need it for the quest where you have to get it to level 65.

4. Unlock waypoints: On each floor, look for a teleport stone. Pressing it will allow you to instantly teleport to that floor from the top right door of the first map when you're in town. This will save you a lot of time running back and forth.

5. Make friends: As you progress through the caves, you'll notice that the bosses become increasingly difficult. Eventually, they won't be soloable or will take so long to defeat that it becomes frustrating. That's why having friends is important, aim to have at least two! (Highly recommend a Taoist).

6. Enjoy whatever you're doing! Take your time; there's no rush. But if you're aiming to level up quickly, focus on being efficient. Avoid wasting time teleporting back and forth or spending 10 minutes on a single champion mob (been there!). Also, don't go broke by buying expensive potions you can't afford.

Hope these tips help! Happy Hunting!

I firmly believe it is an event to further the exploitation of higher lvls / alts than it is to attract new players. it just causes more of a divide, the fact that lvl 200 players (new char) can participate is a joke lol. It should be for genuine new players not top players looking for cheap runes/ores etc. Scorps got it wrong IMO

The xp needs to be increased? LOL. Jesus Christ. wtf has this server become. This guys got half way to 200 in half a day and he's complaining LOL

To be honest what he is saying, is that it's quicker to do level 100 on Emily quests. An I agree, Skull Island has been a slow burner for me, took a while grinding deer and scarecrows to get level 11, and made 400 gold. I'll be using some of Mustafas tips when I log in later.

You can’t compare to main game and Emily quests

the point of the event is that new players can get to 170 in event with decent kit and feel they have a place in the main server at the end of it. Other wise, people see all the lvl 200’s and get out off thinking they have no chance at ever catching up
letting people do it on alts also populates the maps nicely

seems like a job well done

I'm a top player, i made a char not to make runes. But to make levels and make friends. Skull Island has a lot of potential.

Dear new player, level 100 isn't even 0.001% of the way to level 200. Outside Skull Island I can make level 100 in under half an hour with ease.
Do you not know that levels gradually get harder to make? Level 199-200 is probably level 0-100 a trillion times or something.

Sort of, I meant like with farmer quests in Bichon you could go from level 0 to 100 in literally 20mins. I feel sad for one of the players that took 2 hours to get to level 40.. Really think GM should take action and tweak the exp? If i was a new player and it took me 2 hours to do level 40, i'd think nah there's no chance im catching up to level 190 players at this rate! On a positive note, it is really fun though.

Skull Island is an event, an event is something that doesn't happen everyday, it's a rare occurence. Obviously you'd expect an event to have better XP than main gameplay correct? Like i said above if it took me 4/5 hours to get to 100, what kind of effect will that have on new players? they're gonna think it will take 10 years to do 200 bud. And I feel like the previous skull island was much more quicker XP.

Everyone so obsessed with analysing how long a level takes.

I made a new character to play the new maps because it's great fun, it's a new experience exploring and trying out new things and I'm having a great time, really enjoying it so far. I couldn't give two shits what level I get to or how many runes I do or don't get.

Folks seem to have forgotten this is a game, and the purpose of a game is to have fun. If you're having fun playing the new maps then you're winning. If you're analysing it to within an inch of it's life, then you're not. Put the calculators down and just go bash some stuff in a cave :)

I partly agree with you, However for the vast majority of players levels matter way more than you can imagine.

Today, it took me two hours to go from level 105 to 109, which isn't anywhere near fast enough. New players might end up quitting because of this. Imagine someone who takes two hours to reach level 40 and then realizes the level cap is 200. It can be quite discouraging and put people off the game.

Sounds like a skill issue. Get kit that's right for your level and hunt in higher level caves and you will level much faster

The internet is a wonderful thing isn't it? It allows total idiots to voice their moronic opinions without any evidence, facts or logic to back them up.

Don't think it's a skill issue, that's just how fast xp in skull island is atm, after more than 30 hours since its release i think the highest level player is 130? And has spent at least 16-20 hours to get to that level.

Im 109 with level 100 gear, i am missing a few books. I'm also hunting in higher level caves, soon I'll be TU spamming in red valley 2nd.

cant see it being a "skill issue" as skill is the absolute last thing you need to play a game, just time and a brain will suffice.

Correct, at level 50 yes. Where I'm hunting I get 200-2k exp a mob but i dont have resting exp nor exp potion.
You're in an area too low then I'm 109 getting 8k per mob no pot or resting at that level you should be in red 2 or even 1 (clear on and just go for witches)

You say that, but I've seen a lot of people play this with such lack of skill and awareness it would astonish and frustrate even a mid player
