It’s very clearly stated if u upgrade an arctic item it comes back fresh. There’s loads of warnings on the upgrade page although I do agree it’s unfair
I guess it’s only unfair on existing rolled/socketed items. If you get a fresh drop then I guess it’s not - which might be the point. To leave some items in circulation people might not want to upgrade. Who knows.

the only issue I'm facing is first finding Santa's and then getting him to drop his boots.... I just want to finish the quest so I don't have to have all these letters in my storage haha.

All in all, I think this was an ok event.
GG rooms were decent, but I think we should still be getting loyalty points for spending GG to enter them.
I don't like that there is a timer on the arcticmir items - It is good however that there will be a quest to remove the times, but we have to wait and see how possible the quest actually is.
Mounts last until april! This is awesome (although, why can't we have mounts 365 days a year? They bearly affect gameplay as they are not usable in most dungeons).
Frost King was great fun - A perfect server-wide boss where no one had to fight over drops and everyone that attended had a chance of getting something.
I never got one timestone or recall neccy in GG rooms ... I love this!

I agree with almost all of this.
Two counterpoints I'd make
I think in previous events the non-upgraded rares, in this case ArcticMir, have ended up being too common and have the effect of devaluation of Elysian. This way, finding such an item is almost a given, it's upgrading them to be something valuable that's the real reward as a bonus for people who have been extra active
Everyone always loves mounts but GM has always been skeptical about making them permanent because it's unclear how they'll affect things outside of events. It's a bigger change than people realise and has potential to affect things in ways nobody has thought of, hence GM not being willing to take that risk. It's my opinion that making them last 3 months is an experiment by GM to see what happens. If it fucks things up in expected ways then they all go in April and no permanent harm done. If it turns out to be a good thing that benefits the game, that will give good feedback to GM so he may consider doing some permanent version in the future
